Sometimes, I ask myself “what if.” Now, don’t get me wrong. I love my life! From the people to the things I get to do to my relationship with God, makes my life feel awesome. But sometimes I ask myself, “What if my life was different? What if my life was so different that I could do so much more for God?” There’s so much that I want to do for God that sometimes I get caught up in the “what if” when I should get caught up in the “right now.” Wherever I am at the moment is where God wants me to be. I heard this amazing song by Sarah Reeves that reminded that He has me right where He wants me. So what can I do for God right where I am? 1) Pray for people! This year I’ve been praying for everyone; my family, my leaders, my teachers from the past and currently, people I see on the street, and kids from my youth group. When I do this, I feel like I’m doing something for God that not only will help others but also bring me closer to Him. I have come to realize that praying for people is one of the greatest things in the world! Ephesians 6:182) Show Love I've also been trying to make more of an effort to give a smile to everyone I pass. Whether it’s the checkout clerk at the grocery store or someone randomly walking down the street, I make it an appoint to either say “hello” or smile at them. Last Christmas, I was walking around Walmart while I waited for my mom and sister to finish shopping. As I browsed around, I came in contact with so many people that I couldn’t help but give them some form of a greeting. So much smiling and so many hellos! From the looks on their faces, I could tell that it made their day and you can too! Another way that I show love is by showing some form of appreciation to my teachers. If you’re a homeschooler, you could send your teachers an e-card or a text message, or give your teachers a phone call to tell them how much you appreciate them. If you “go” to school, you could write them a letter or card, or tell them in person, or give them a little something (only if you know what they like and aren't allergic to) to show how much you appreciate them! Trust me teachers love to feel appreciated! 1 John 4:73) Serve Others This idea is really enjoyable! You can serve anywhere, and you don’t have to go to another state or country to start. You can begin at home. Here’s a list of 7 things you can do right now: - Take the trash out or wash the dishes without being told - If you know how to cook, ask your parents if you could take over the kitchen for the night - Make sure your room is cleaned up without your parents telling you - Make your parents morning coffee (only if you know how to work the coffee machine!!) - Help your siblings with their homework or babysit - Ask your parents if they need anything like water or their bed made up - Whenever your parents ask you to do something, do it because you love your family (that makes it easier!) If you decide that you want to volunteer outside of your home, you could volunteer at your church or youth group, or church's ministry. If your church has high school interns you could do that (I did this last semester), or you could volunteer at a food bank, or you could volunteer at your local hospital. There are so many ways you can serve! Hebrews 6:10So, ladies, you can do all of these things right where you are now in life! You don’t have to wait to be an adult or until life changes to make a difference and do great things for God! Embrace these moments that you have right now and take action!
